Uralvagonzavod and Amsted Rail agreed on partnership

Within the framework of the working visit of the corporation delegation to the USA the Memorandum on Understanding between Russian corporation “UVZ” and American company “Amsted Rail” has been signed. The Memorandum has been signed by Oleg Sienko and John Wories, heads of the companies.

The purpose of signing the Memorandum is to develop long-term partnership between the companies. The Sides has agreed that “Uralvagonzavod” will provide the licenses for manufacture of bolsters and side frames of freight bogie 18-100.
The negotiations on transferring the nonexclusive license for the “Motion Control” freight bogie 18-9836 (with 25-tf axle load) certified in September, 2010, will be carried on.

Corporation “UVZ” confirmed its readiness to install the “Brenco” compact double-row tapered bearing units in bogies with 23.5- and 25-tf axle load of the “Amsted Rail Company Inc.”
It has been stated that the Russian Corporation will also consider the opportunity of cooperation on fixed contact side bearings Preload Plus 4500 and other components.

One of the most important points of the signed Memorandum concerns the confirmation of the “UVZ” interest in solid wheels for freight cars and commencement of solid wheel testing and certification in the Russian Federation territory, which will be implemented together with company “Amsted Rail”. The Sides has agreed to prepare the program of the factory construction in the Russian Federation territory.

In the course of the visit to the USA the “UVZ” delegation has visited foundry “ASF” (Granite City, Illinois), where the delegation viewed the manufacture of side frame and bolster castings, and factory “Griffin” (Columbus, Ohio) manufacturing wheelsets. Both enterprises are part of company “Amsted Rail”.
