Uralvagonzavod Corporation Strengthens Cooperation with India

Two signings with participation of Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation took place at the INNOPROM-2016 Trade Fair.

A Memorandum of Understanding in the area of technical cooperation under the Make in India Program and promotion of the Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) products to India has been signed in the presence of Denis Manturov, Russian Minister of Trade and Industry, and Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India. Signatures under the document were applied by Oleg Sienko, Director General of Uralvagonzavod Corporation, and Amid Kalyani, Executive Director of Kharaj Ford Kalyani Group. The aim of the Memorandum is further development and strengthening of cooperation in industry between the two countries.

Oleg Sienko noted that Uralvagonzavod is a traditional supplier of products to India within the military and technical cooperation. The republic ‘has the world’s largest fleet of our machines.’ The Agreement envisions creating a joint product, namely, a self-propelled artillery system, at the facilities of the Indian company.

‘Our Indian partners have rich experience in cooperating with the Defense Ministry while we are in possession of vast expertise and competence in creating self-propelled artillery. Under our Make in India Program, we plan to gradually transfer documentation for co-production of the system’, - the UVZ Director General said. He also noted that assembling would be just the first stage of cooperation in creating SPAS, the production of which is now taking place at the Uraltransmash Division of the Uralvagonzavod Corporation.

In addition, the Director General of Uralvagonzavod Corporation Oleg Sienko and First Vice-President of Gazprombank Yan Tsenter have signed an agreement to launch new wage-related projects for UVZ. Those will be implemented through MIR national payment system.
