Summarizing RAE-2015

At the press-conference dedicated to summarizing the 10th anniversary RAE 2015 International Weapons Exhibition, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yekaterinburg Alexander Kharlamov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Science of the Sverdlowsk Region Igor Zelenkin, Chief Communications Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Uralvagonzavod Corporation Alexey Zharich were answering the journalists' questions.

The unprecedented number of foreign delegations (65) took part in the exhibition. Thirteen of them were represented by defense ministers, chiefs of defense and army component commanders. Eight hundred accredited journalists, including 100 foreign ones, covered the RAE 2015. At the demonstration tests, over 9000 ammunition units were used, about 500 training targets were destroyed. The daily demo-shows engaged 500 persons and 62 land and air equipment units to demonstrate coordination of different arms of service and military equipment for the first time. The four-day exhibition was attended by about 50 000 people.

In addition to the unique demonstration tests, the exhibition offered a rich business program where the most important issues of the domestic defense and industrial complex development were discussed. "Events of the exhibition: the military and industrial conference, proceedings of the interdepartmental CSTO commission, round table with participation of heads of the committees of the State Duma and the Federation Council on Defense and Security are of great importance for enterprises of the defense and industrial complex," Igor Zelenkin said. "This platform provides a possibility to share current problems of enterprises and we are sure that these problems will get a response".

The Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, his Deputy Dmitry Rogozin, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the exhibition.

"RAE 2015 was held at the highest level and once again proved its position in the ТОР largest global land fairs,” Alexey Zharich highlighted. “I especially appreciate the organizational assistance of the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation as well as authorities of the Sverdlovks Region and Nizhny Tagil.

Т-90С, Т-90SМ, Т-72BZ tanks and other up-and-coming developments attracted an outstanding interest of foreign delegations. Particularly, the delegation from Saudi Arabia showed its interest to T-90SM. Moreover, at the RAE 2015, a contract for the supply of spare parts for T-72 was signed with India.

Alexander Khralamov mentioned a positive trend in Nizhny Tagil exhibition attendance by foreign delegations. The exhibition was open virtually round the clock. Many delegations studies weapons at night because "they are interested in practical results of their work, which is one of the exhibition’s features". He also confirmed that central bodies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had decided to establish a temporary consular station at the Koltsovo Airport to facilitate passport control and visiting the Ural Federal District for foreign citizens attending the exhibition in the year of 2017.

The decision about holding the exhibition 2017 was taken at the highest level. The Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has already signed the respective regulation. The exhibition contractors stated that RAE 2017 would be held on September 6-9; preparatory actions were already underway. The organizers specified that their areas could accommodate double the number of full-scale items and exhibition stands. It had been already decided that on the first and second exhibition day there would be night demonstration tests for official delegations and accredited mass media. Night work is the best way to show all capabilities of optics and military equipment. Furthermore, special forces will be engaged in the demonstration show to the maximum extent; the possibility of showing advanced aircraft fleet models as well as application of robotic complexes will be considered.
